Who makes decisions in your head?

Who is influencing your thoughts about our world?

Moreover, who are you letting influence your thoughts about our world?

What country are we living in again? The land of the what? Cities where our friendly neighborhood newspapers are now dumping hate-propaganda on us?

You may have gotten yours already. The DVD, “Obsession, Radical Islam’s War Against the West” by The Clarion Fund in NY.

If this is our new path, we are in a very sad state of affairs. We are much more lost and darker than I thought.

This rant is from my friend Nancy in South Dakota.

Here it goes: Driving to work today, I heard on the local radio station that somewhere a man who was convicted of, I think it was child molestation, and will be serving time. Apparently, he told the Judge, this was not the first time he had committed such an act, and those of us in the general public will be able to read more of the grizzly details, who other victim’s might be in his forthcoming book.

I would hope that people will not/would not even think to buy such a book and put money into the hands of such a person. But knowing the American public, I’m sure folks will be eager to get their hands on it. This smacks of O.J. Simpson’s recent book, and begs the question, “Is it merely morbid curiosity, and if this is the case, what is wrong with this picture??”

Times are very hard for a lot of people, why not “think outside the box” and figure out ways to help one another! It’s lame to think that we can only use cash (or plastic) to get what we need or want. Humans started bartering eons ago. We always have, but our new “economics” is offering us the opportunity to revisit ways to trade anew.

Drinkers in some pubs in England are being offered the chance to drink for no money down. But, it’s not free either. Instead of cash, they can barter their home-grown produce, fresh shot wild game and fish for free pints.

Anything that can be added to its traditional food menu (vegetables, herbs, eggs, etc, from the family farm) will be considered. It’s not an exact science, but with the amount of pints, meals or vouchers offered, in return linked to the size, quantity and quality of the items presented.

A sign on display inside the pub says: “If you grow, breed, shoot or steal anything that may look at home on our menu, then bring it in and let’s do a deal.” Some chalk boards give lists of examples of what they can use in their all day kitchens, serving these local grown goodies back to their customers for cash! Smart cookies, well “biscuits” in the UK!

HOW SAFE CAN IT BE?
A North Norfolk council environmental officer said: “We need to look carefully at how pubs can make sure what they’re doing is safe for customers and within the law. There is a difference between surplus game from a shoot and half a deer that may be a roadkill.”

ABC News just did a report on it tonight, click here and see the story.

And, you gotta love that the name of this pub is THE PIGS! I’ll have to visit on my next trip!

Hard times can slow things down and take us back to simpler times, and times when we actually depended on one another in good ways.

Think outside the box in your life, community or business life. How could you trade, barter or creatively move good energy around with others?

“They hurt so bad, aren’t they just so cute though?”

If that statement was said about a relationship, you’d be asked to call the cops!

Women and shoes. (Click on those words and find the 2008 New York Fashion Week video to further explain my thoughts here.)

Women do things men would never think (or pay) dearly to do – buy and wear high heeled shoes that hurt so badly they have to take them off and change within hours. Spend a paycheck on the same, plus some clothes and accessories that don’t always make sense and may never be worn again.

Have I ever worn too high shoes that hurt my feet? Yes, one pair in college. 3 1/2 inch block heels. I wore them a few times throughout a semester and that was it. The pain I had in the balls of my feet was too much for me to justify creating lifelong problems, for a few glances from “the guys” and the one time through “oh, cool!” remarks from some women.

A stiletto heel is named from the Latin word ”styli” or “stylus,” meaning “slender dagger.” I suppose “dagger” is perfect for the piercing, knife-like pain women feel when wearing them for only moments.

Oprah had a “shoe show” last year, and plenty of comments that followed.  She said she has pairs that she only wears out to the stage and then can’t move around in them they hurt so badly. “They are my 1/2 hour shoes. But, they look good!”

Stiletto heels can vary in length, or height, from 1 inch 8 inches or more if a platform sole is used. They are also sometimes defined as having a diameter at the ground of slightly less than half an inch.

So, you’re not only walking with your foot “ballerina on pointe,” but on a heal that cannot truly hold up your frame correctly for the best back, leg and feet health.

There are plenty of stories about those “hot” shoes years later too, but mostly about painful feet that never go away.

It’s right up there in the “what-ev-er” category I suppose. People are going to do what they’re going to do, lame as it is.

Oh, and . . . for whom do women wear make-up, stilettos, new hairdos and “fashion?” Men!

An amazing thing we do in life. Hopefully the payoff is a good one!

Aspartame is a common zero-calorie sweetener, marketed under brand names including Equal, NutraSweet, Canderel and Tropicana Slim and used in more than 6,000 products worldwide.

I am more aware than ever about the toxic and potential health risks of aspartame. I chose to stop drinking diet sodas (for the most part) last year. I say, “for the most part” because like being addicted to sugar, as most people are, aspartame is as addictive and is a tough change.

I used to be a alcoholism counselor. Alcohol is the least of our worries.

59 percent of Americans consume diet soft drinks, making them the second-most-popular low-calorie, sugar-free products in the nation, according to a consumer survey from the Calorie Control Council, a nonprofit association that represents the low-calorie and reduced-fat food and beverage industry. If you add to that all the thousands of available diet foods that also contain artificial sweeteners, it is no surprise that over 60 percent of the American population suffer from metabolic disorders and are overweight or obese. Weight gain increases the risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Last week, after hearing the real studies and information about aspartame on Coast to Coast AM and from Mike Adams at Natural News, I quit for good. Now, checking all the labels on gum and everything else is an ongoing task.

MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. The US is all about the addiction to monetizing everything for capital gain at the expense of the people. Put soda machines in schools, sponsor sports and the Olympics with addictive and toxic additives — it’s everywhere.

New Zealand beverage manufacturer Phoenix Organics has launched an anti-aspartame campaign called “Think Before You Drink,” to inform people about what it says are serious health risks from the artificial sweetener.Of the 92 different symptoms of aspartame use noted in over 10,000 complaints received by the FDA, headaches, holes in our brains, seizures, forgetfulness, mild to severe jitters, weight gain (from a diet product!) and diabetes are just a few.

CHANGE: Make a conscious choice today to switch your beverages and sweetners to healthy ones, for your health.

There is a saying that if you put a frog into a boiling pot of water, the frog will immediately jump out; it’s hot, it hurts!

However, if you put a frog into a pot of cool water and slowly raise the temperature, the frog will get boiled.

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
~ Mark Twain

Non-stop distractions steal your time slowly over a long period of time, including ”political spin”, TV, advertising, bling, materialism/consumerism, gossip/tabloids, fear, communication overload/cell phones/computers and more. It is like slowly raising the temperature on the frog. You don’t do anything about it because you don’t realize how much time and mental energy you are really giving and loosing to it, just like the frog doesn’t realize it’s getting boiled.

“It is easier to stay out than get out.”
~ Mark Twain

Are you free? Are we really free? Or is the water boiling?

“None are so hopelessly enslaved
as those who falsely believe they are free.”
~ Goethe

You are as free as your level of consciousness; as awake as you truly are at any given moment.

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
~ Thomas Jefferson

How awake are you?

“Stay together, friends
Don’t scatter and sleep
Our friendship is made
of being awake.”

~ Rumi
